Selling a home in Ewelme
Ewelme is one of the true showpiece villages of South Oxfordshire, tucked into the Chilterns about four miles from Wallingford. It's best known for a remarkably complete set of 15th-century buildings - a church, alms-houses, and a school which changed very little since medieval times.
The village itself is postcard-pretty, built around a half-mile run of cottages following the Ewelme Brook, a genuine chalk stream with the renowned water cress adjacent to the High Street. Ewelme sits right on the edge of the Chilterns AONB, with good walking & cycling straight from the village onto the Ridgeway/Icknield Way. There is a strong village community and shop with pond and village hall adjacent. The stunning St. Marys church is the final resting place of famous historic resident - Jerome K. Jerome, author of Three Men in a Boat.
